"Immortal"
Uma visão da história da banda..

Um dos ícones da cena black metal norueguesa, o Immortal foi fundado em 1990 por Abbath (Old Funeral) e Demonaz (Amputation), e lançaram o disco de estréia Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism. A bateria teve uma alternância de nomes como Armagedda, Grim (ex-Borknagar) e Hellhammer, até o álbum Battles In The North.

A partir de Blizzard Beasts entra para assumir o posto de bateria Reidar Horghagen, mais conhecido como Horgh. Parecia que a banda finalmente teria uma formação mais fixa, porém ao final do lançamento deste álbum, Demonaz começa a sofrer de uma grave doença nos nervos de sua mão, que o obriga a deixar as guitarras e passar a ser compositor e manager da banda.

O álbum seguinte da banda, At The Heart Of Winter, teve como membros Abbath e Horgh apenas. Devido a doença de Demonaz, Abbath passa para a guitarra e contratam um baixista, Stian Smørholm (Iscariah). Essa formação grava os álbuns Damned In Black e Sons Of Northern Darkness.

Em julho de 2003 a banda decide encerrar a carreira após 13 anos e no ápice. Após três anos, Abbath lança o projeto I, que além dele tem Armagedda, Tom Cato "King ov Hell" Visnes (Gorgoroth), Arve "Ice Dale" Isdal (Enslaved) e Demonaz que como nos velhos tempos do Immortal, figura como o grande compositor da banda.

Em junho de 2006, numa entrevista a revista German Rock Hard, Abbath e Horgh divulgam que o Immortal está de volta ao ativo. Era o reinício de uma das maiores lendas da história do Black Metal.
